Leaf Lamp won the 2010 Green Furniture Design competition in Sweden and it currently being manufactured by Green Furniture Sweden. It has been installed in a range of commercial interiors across Sweden where it is valued for its green credentials, appearance and sound dampening qualities.
The ’twigs’ and ‘branches’ are arranged using Fibonacci numbers and plant growth patterns found in nature. The overall construction emulates how nature uses basic structures and repeats them at different scales in order to create complexity from very simple rules. The entire lamp is made from birch and unbleached wool felt (apart from the light source and electrical cable. Parts are connected via tapered joints that provide a firm connection requiring no glues or additional fixtures; as a result the lamp is easily assembled and disassembled by hand allowing for efficient flat packing for transportation.
